Joyce spent the majority of her childhood in Charleston, South Carolina and served in the U.S. Army as an Explosives Ordinance Disposal (EOD) Specialist. Prior to attending law school, Joyce worked as a Senior Legal Assistant in the Capital Felony Trial Division of the Atlanta Circuit Public Defenders Office.
She graduated magna cum laude from the UDC David A. Clarke School of Law in Washington, D.C., where she served on the Editorial Board of the UDC-DCSL Law Review and authored Appealing to the Legislature: A Comparative Analysis of the Georgia Statutes Regarding Evidence Preservation and Access to Post-Conviction DNA Testing.
Joyce has represented clients in matters in D.C. Superior Court, D.C. Court of Appeals, D.C. Office of Employee Appeals, and the Social Security Administration as well as the Student Hearing Office of the State Superintendent of Education. Additionally, she has litigated numerous veterans compensation claims before the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs where she is an accredited veterans' representative.
She was employed by a large law firm in Bethesda, Maryland prior to founding Aceves & Associates.

Prior to attending law school, Nicholas worked in various capacities in the field of Early Childhood Education. During law school, Nicholas was a Dean's Fellow, served as an Associate Editor of the Law Review and founded the Journal of Legal Illustrations - a project using technology and free-culture licensure to generate, refine and publish meaningful visual illustrations of legal concepts in order to increase both the distributional and conceptual availability of the law.
Nicholas has represented clients in mediations and hearings in family law cases in D.C. Superior Court. He has worked extensively with the DC Volunteer Lawyers' Project to provide representation to domestic violence survivors as well as TimeBanks USA's Racial Justice Initiative.
Prior to joining Aceves & Associates, Nicholas worked as a Staff Attorney at an anti-blight organization in Philadelphia.
